About this course
The Diploma in General Nursing (R171) is a three year programme, leading to registration with South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse. The programme consists of a theory and clinical component which must be completed in each academic year.

The curriculum is designed to prepare graduate nurse- and midwifery practitioners who are equipped to meet the increasing health needs as well as health related problems, of multicultural populations in a wide variety of health care settings, while considering of the current and future social, cultural and economical contexts, of the country.

Completion of the Degree provide access to post-basic (post-graduate) qualifications offered at Universities in the field or where appropriate cognate fields as Nursing Education, Nursing management; Primary Health Care; Occupational Health Care. There are various career opportunities in the Private and Public Health Care sector. Vertical articulation possibilities with Master’s programmes by thesis or through structured Master’s programme focusing on specific specialization’s in nursing.

Academic year tuition fees – R23 589 per student.
This amount excludes, books, equipment, immunization cost, nurses uniform and other costs.
The registration fee of R 2,500.00 is due before or on the day of registration and is not refundable. The registration fee is inclusive of the total Tuition Fee.
Accommodation
Student Accommodation cost (If allocated according to Policy)
Single room not sharing per year – R15 821.52
Double Room sharing per year – R14 677.47
Annually fee that only cover accommodation for the academic year. A Deposit Fee of R 2 000.00 is payable before student will be allocated a room. Deposit is inclusive of the total accommodation fee for the academic year.
