CALL FOR NOMINATION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL NURSING (WCCN)

Exciting opportunities for people who want to make a difference

The Minister of Health and Wellness- Provincial Government of Western Cape invites members of public to nominate a person for the appointment to serve as a member of the Western Cape College of Nursing (WCCN) Council in terms of section 4 of the WCCN Institutional Statute. The Western Cape College of Nursing have three campuses across the province namely, Boland Overberg Nursing Campus in Worcester, Southern Cape Karoo Nursing Campus in George and Metro Nursing Campus in Athlone, Cape Town.

Number of Positions available: Two (2)

The nominees must be suitably qualified and with expertise in the following areas:

Finance (1)

Clinical Experience in Nursing Education & Training (1)

Term of office: Four (4) years

Successful candidates shall be appointed to fill the existing vacancies within the WCCN Council. The person to be appointed shall serve as a Council Member for the office term of four (4) years.

Please note:

The Nominees must not be employees of the Department of Health Western Cape and / or WCCN College of Nursing.

Remuneration:

Sitting allowance as per the tariffs approved by the Department of Health-Western Cape.

All travelling expenses will be paid by the college as per the Department of Transport tariffs.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Knowledge of the Higher Education and Training Sector

Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of public colleges

Nominee must have several years’ experience in the field of Finance and Clinical Experience in Nursing Education & Training

Nominees with Public Sector experience or those who have served on any council (including but not limited to Higher Education Institutions) will have an added advantage.

The nomination form must be signed by at least two members of the public and by the Nominee, as an indication of his or her willingness to serve on the Council and its committees.
The following supporting documents must be included:

Curriculum vitae of the nominee;

details of three referees and a declaration by the Nominee that no conflict of interest exists with the Western Cape College of Nursing.

Closing Date: 15 May 2026

No late or faxed applications will be considered.

Failure to submit all the requested documents will result in the application not being considered.

Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only. If you have not been contacted within three (3) months after the closing date of this advertisement, please accept that your application was unsuccessful.

Nominated Council Members residing within Western Cape Province will be given preference
